Scoring
Also known as: Field goals, Point values
How many points a basket is worth.
The rule
A shot that goes in from inside the arc is worth 2 points, and from behind the arc it’s worth 3. A free throw is worth 1. A shot counts as a 3 only if both feet were behind the line when the shooter left the floor; landing on or inside the line afterwards is fine.
Around the leagues
- 1 · 2 · 3: NBA, WNBA, FIBA, NCAA M, NCAA W, Wheelchair. Free throw 1, inside the arc 2, behind the arc 3.
- 1 · 2: 3x3. Everything is worth one point less: inside the arc 1, behind it 2. Free throws stay at 1.
